The Digital Swiss 5 live on Eleven Sports

ELEVEN SPORTS keeps its bet on eSports and, between the 22nd and 26th of April, will transmit, live, the 5 stages of the Virtual Tour to Switzerland.

The world’s leading professional cycling teams have confirmed their participation in The Digital Swiss 5, a virtual cycling competition created in response to the COVID19 pandemic, to enable fans to watch the best of sport and give professional cyclists the opportunity to compete against each other the others.

From April 22nd to 26th, The Digital Swiss 5 will place indoor cycling on the podium. On this occasion, 19 professional teams from the World Tour and Continental Tour will compete on the roads of the current Tour of Switzerland. Each athlete will participate alone at home, but simultaneously with his teammates – an unprecedented race in the world of sport.

The Digital Swiss 5 is the result of a collaboration between Velon and the organization of Volta à Switzerland, together with Rouvy and Cycling Unlimited. The stages are carried out with real video images of the impressive roads of the Tour of Switzerland as a backdrop.

The riders, three per team, will be represented by avatars dressed in the respective teams’ uniforms and using their usual bikes. The formation of each team can change from race to race, to reflect the different routes. Some stages will be in the Swiss mountains, others will be on flat roads.

In addition to professionals, fans will also have the opportunity to compete on the same courses. The race reserved for amateur cyclists takes place after each professional race.
