The Editory Garden Porto Hotel, a mini urban oasis surrounded by history, culture and art

The Editory Collection Hotels opens fifth hotel unit in the city of Porto

  • 10M€ investment in the new four-star unit
  • A refuge in downtown Porto
  • 48 rooms, a restaurant, and a private garden

At nº 35, Rua da Firmeza, the fifth hotel unit of The Editory Collection Hotels of Sonae Capital in the city of Porto is born: The Editory Garden Porto Hotel, which is assumed to be a mini urban oasis surrounded by history, culture, and art, in a project of architecture signed by Miguel Cardoso.

Project management and interior design were carried out by Sonae Sierra – Paracentro, S.A.

In the heart of Baixa, The Editory Garden Porto Hotel results from a partnership between PCINVEST (developer) and The Editory Collection Hotels, a business unit of Sonae Capital (operator), in a joint investment of around 10 million euros, which materializes in a boutique hotel designed to respect the harmony with the historic buildings that surround it, while favoring the creation of spaces of tranquility to escape the natural hustle and bustle of the city.

A refuge in nature, in an urban environment

With the hotel school The Editory Artist Baixa Porto and the Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Porto as neighbors, The Editory Garden defies functional logic to impose an alternative of enjoyment that requires balance, lightness, tranquility, and the presence of nature.

Airy spaces marked by neutral tones give prominence to the vegetation surrounded by light woods, natural textures, soft lights, and sustainable materials. A commitment to the environment is assumed in every detail, from the selection of decorative elements to service practices, projecting an atmosphere in which time has different expressions, but all of them are natural.

Outside, a private garden reveals unique corners under the wooden pergola with suspended vegetation, next to the water mirror surrounded by plants, in moments of conviviality at the “wooden trunk” table or in simple breaks on the terrace.

Go through the seasons in 48 elegant rooms

The elegance of a sober, yet relaxed decor invites you to try out four types of rooms that are divided into 22 twin rooms, 24 double rooms, a suite, and a room adapted for reduced mobility.

The hotel is developed in three blocks, each one revealing a different environment, thus allowing you to go through three seasons of the year; spring, summer, and autumn, through the colors, textures, and decorative elements that refer to different sensations of space and time within the same hotel.

A restaurant that creates dishes with the best that the land gives you

The Editory Garden restaurant was created to give expression to what is most natural in food: plant-based dishes that reflect the seasons of the year, their flavors and aromas, and the Chef’s inspirations according to his memories, with fresh products cooked with love and great generosity, which ensure that each meal is a healthy pleasure to share and snuggle.

With a capacity for 80 seats (48 inside and 32 outside), the restaurant is open daily for lunch, between 12:30 and 23:00. Open throughout the day, the bar – with a capacity for around 11 seats – features a menu of natural juices, infusions, cocktails and wines inspired by the theme that defines it: nature.

Breathe Porto with the art of Teresa Rego

A peaceful and urbanely comfortable environment challenges the senses to apprehend other perspectives. In the lobby, the mural by artist Teresa Rego is a celebration of nature in colorful illustrations that assert themselves in dichotomy with the gray of the city.

After living in the United Kingdom for three years, where she dedicated herself to the universe of illustration at the University of Arts London, Camberwell College of Arts, Teresa Rego discovered the contrasts between the colors of the illustrations she creates and the materials that design cities. Her artistic language explores the connection between natural spaces and built spaces and, in the Editory Garden, a mix of geometric shapes with organic ones appears, to give Porto a new breath of the city.

Hospitality, Location, Art, and Sustainability: 4 pillars of a brand that breathes Porto

The Editory Collection Hotels is a brand based on four lines of action that define the service, product, and structure of the Group’s hotels. The Editory Garden Porto Hotel embodies hospitality through the Concierge service, which offers suggestions for seeing what matters and doing what matters. At the same time, the hotel honors the location where it operates, selecting the best suggestions for getting to know Porto in your free time, capturing synergies with local agents that add value to the experiences of the city, and making known the flavors, corners and curiosities that distinguish a unique travel destination.

The focus on sustainability positions The Editory Garden Porto Hotel as an active agent in complying with the sustainability standards defined by the Group. From combating waste to reducing energy consumption, including changing procedures for better energy certifications, the hotel is committed to greater integration of the circular economy and small daily actions that, in conjunction with each Customer, influence awareness and attitudes that contribute to a joint environmental protection project.

The Editory Collection Hotels Group imprints the lifestyle and uniqueness of the destination where each hotel is integrated, presenting distinct atmospheres in the nine units of the portfolio: Porto Palácio Hotel by The Editory, Aqualuz Hotels by The Editory (Troia, Lagos), The Editory by the Sea (Troia – Comporta), The Editory Artist (Baixa, Porto), The Editory House (Ribeira, Porto), The Editory Riverside (Santa Apolónia, Lisbon), The Editory Boulevard (Aliados, Porto), The Editory Garden Porto Hotel (Firmeza), and the tourist apartments under management in Tróia – Troia Residence by The Editory.
