The film of Tiago Hespanha competes in the festival Cinéma du Réel in Paris
The film ‘Campo’, by Portuguese director Tiago Hespanha, will be in competition in March at the International Documentary Film Festival Cinéma du Réel in Paris, was announced today.
According to the programming revealed today, the 41st. documentary ‘Campo’ was selected for the feature film competition.
‘Field’ is presented as a test-film, shot ‘on the largest military base in Europe, where the military is training, with all kinds of weapons, missions that will develop in distant places.’
The film was shown last summer at the Locarno festival, still in the post-production stage, in a professional context, having received a prize of 65,000 euros in post-production services.
Tiago Hespanha, who is part of the production company Terratreme, has been working for documentary films for about a decade.
He is the author of the films ‘Industrial Revolution’, edited with Frederico Lobo, ‘Guided Tour’, ‘The gift that came from far’, ‘Model walk’ and ‘Quinta da Curraleira’.
In the ‘long’ competition of the Cinéma du Réel are 13 other films, among which two Brazilian productions: ‘Rosa azul de Novalis’, by Gustavo Vinagre and Rodrigo Carneiro, and ‘Tell her that you saw me cry’, by the anthropologist Maíra Buhler.
The French festival dedicated to the documentary will be held from March 15 to 24 at the Center Pompidou in Paris.
Last year, Leonor Teles won the festival’s ‘Prix International de la Scam’, with the feature film ‘Terra Franca’, which was selected for competition.
In 2017, Ico Costa won the award for a best short film with ‘Nyo Vweta Nafta’ and in 2010, Susana de Sousa Dias was awarded the great prize with the documentary ’48’.
