The first Portuguese sign language dictionary is online now

Dictionary integrated into Infopedia allows deaf (and not deaf) people to search for words by finding videos that translate them into Portuguese sign language.

Porto Editora launched this Thursday, National Day of Portuguese Sign Language, through the Infopedia Portal, which announces that it is “the only dictionary of Portuguese sign language” available online.

Through the site, users can search for words and expressions that they later trigger in a video that explains how they “translate” into sign language.

The dictionary is free and intuitive and is, according to the publisher, “an essential tool for the community of more than 100,000 deaf people in Portugal”.

Porto Editora had already published, in 2010, the only dictionary of Portuguese sign language (LGP). As of today, it can now be consulted online.
