NATIONAL BALLET COMPANY
Barbora Hurskova, Mário Laginha and Tiago Rodrigues
It all came from a person and from his life. The challenge that Luísa Taveira, artistic director of the National Ballet Company, launched was to create a show for a ballet dancer who reaches the end of her career: Barbora Hruskova. The role of Tiago Rodrigues and Mário Laginha was to translate to the stage, in collaboration with Barbora, that definitive moment of a body that is about to abandon the dance. Thus, a CNB dancer and a pianist, Mário Laginha, join in an exciting show that takes place in the history of dance and will mark the first presence of Companhia Nacional de Bailado in Santarém.
Barbora Hruskova studied at the National Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris, with Christiane Vaussard, and at the San Francisco Dance Company. In 1990 he joined the Royal Ballet of Flanders as the first soloist. She has been a teacher of the CNB Ballet since March 2016.
Mário Laginha is usually connoisseur of jazz, but the musical universe he has been building for more than two decades is much more comprehensive, with jazz of course, but also with the classical and contemporary where he performed in a duo and a trio with Pedro Burmester and Bernardo Sassetti.
Tiago Rodrigues is the artistic director of the D. Maria II National Theater. Actor, playwright and director whose subversive and poetic theatre affirmed him as one of the most important Portuguese artists, having presented his work all over Europe.
