The movement ‘Vamos Ao Cinema’ calls for the Portuguese to return to the theaters

The campaign aims to encourage the Portuguese to return to cinemas and will take place today in various communication channels, including television, digital media, and radio.

It is an invitation that intends to involve all Portuguese people in returning to the cinema. All cinemas that are already open comply with the rules of hygiene and safety imposed by the DGS, and are therefore able and waiting to be able to receive all lovers. for the experience of watching a film on the big screen“, explains the director-general of the Portuguese Association for the Defense of Audiovisual Works (FEVIP), Paulo Santos, one of the entities that make up the #Vamosaocinema movement.

This movement calls on all Portuguese people to return to the national movie theaters that began to reopen since June.

In addition to FEVIP, the movement includes the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), the Association for the Collective Management of Copyright and Cinematographic and Audiovisual Producers (GEDIPE), the Portuguese Film Academy and the Portuguese Association of Film Exhibitors (APEC).

According to data from ICA, about 78 thousand spectators went to the cinema in July, a 95.6% drop compared to the same period in 2019, and 12,400 in June, the month in which the theaters were able to reopen in a time of pandemic, which represented a 99% drop in assistance recorded in June 2019.
