The 2019 Museum of the Year Award, awarded by the Portuguese Museum Association, went to the Museum of the Biennial Art Foundation of Cerveira, in the district of Viana do Castelo
At a ceremony held at the Teatro Miguel Franco, the Interpretation Center of the Romanesque in Lousada received an Honorable Mention in the same category.
APOM has been awarding prizes since 1997 to museums, projects, good practices, professionals and various activities developed in the sector. With the Museum of the Year Award being the main award, in the total of 27 categories in the competition.
Distinctions in the areas, better intervention and restoration, the best catalogue, the best exhibition, patronage and museographic project are some of them.
With 200 applications from institutions in mainland Portugal and the Autonomous Regions this year, as well as Portuguese projects abroad, 89 entities were distinguished. This year a Special Mention was created for a set of institutions that highlighted the Second World War when 80 years passed on the beginning of the conflict.
