“The Navigator” closes cine-concerts in Viseu Dão Lafões
The film “The Navigator” will end, on October 4th and 5th, the cycle of “Cine-Concerts out of doors” that, since April, has been animating the Viseu Dão Lafões region.
Next weekend, the musicians Filipe Raposo and Bruno Pinto will take the stage, giving sound to the film made by Buster Keaton in 1924.
This movie tells the story of two spoiled rich who get caught in an empty passenger ship. Considered one of Buster Keaton’s favorite films, “The Navigator” will be screened next Friday in Castro Daire (Municipal Culture Center at 9 pm) and Saturday in Tondela (at Old Market, also 9 pm). This exhibition will be accompanied by Filipe Raposo and Bruno Pinto, who will play the original composition that both prepared and presented to the public, for the first time in 2015, at the 60th anniversary commemorative session of the Cine Clube de Viseu.
Within the framework of the Viseu Dão Lafões Cultural Network, since April the program “Cine-concerts out of doors” has shown a dozen films of all genres, with a set of musicians that made this trip possible: Bruno Pinto, Filipe Raposo, Gonçalo Alegre, Jose Pedro Pinto, Nicholas McNair, Noiserv and Nuno Silva.
Charlie Chaplin’s “Emigrant”, Buster Keaton’s “Sherlock Jr.” and Rino Lupo’s “The Wolves” and “Women of the Beira” are among the films screened, always with live musical accompaniment.
At the end of this program it is worth highlighting the circulation of the project by nine municipalities in the Viseu Dão Lafões region, always in spaces with their own history and identity, challenging the public to know and return to these places.
