The Roots will be in July in Cascais on CoolJazz
The North American group The Roots will return to act in Portugal in 2019, when joining the poster of the festival EDPCoolJazz, on July 9 in Cascais, was announced.
According to the organization, rapper group Black Thought and drummer Questlove will make one of the rare appearances in Europe in 2019. They had performed in Portugal in 2012, at the Southwest festival (Zambujeira do Mar) and in 2004 at the festival Paredes de Coura.
Alternative hip hop practitioners, The Roots have been, for almost a decade, the resident band of Jimmy Fallon’s television shows, the most popular side of a Philadelphia-born band in 1987, and more than a dozen albums released and several partnerships with other musicians.
The Roots currently comprise eight musicians, though only Questlove and Black Thought remain from the beginning.
The 16th CoolJazz festival will take place throughout July in Cascais, with names such as Diana Krall, Tom Jones, and Jacob Collier.
