Entering Rua de São Paulo, in one of the busiest neighbourhoods in Lisbon, a trip in the elevator to the Penthouse of the Mateus Hotel opens the doors to a large room, with an eclectic set of decorative notes from the long-lived Mateus Rosé, and an open kitchen with incredible views of Lisbon.
Here, we enter the universe of The Stage is Always Set, an intimate environment that makes us feel as if we were “at a friend’s house”. In this space, created by the brand to give a “stage” to the incredible talent we have in Portugal, every Tuesday from 6:30 pm, culture joins the Mateus Rosé and the dishes, in finger food format, that come out of the kitchen led by Chef Bruno Antunes.
For a single price, guests can eat, drink, listen to live music, and poetry, and dance to DJs, among other talents, while enjoying the views of the city. The Stage is Always Set promises to become one of the pillars of the city’s creative scene, connecting travellers and Lisbon residents to the artistic community in an intimate setting.
Well-known names such as Mari Segura, Salvador Sobral, Luísa Sobral, Tatanka, Bárbara Rodrix, among many others, have passed through the improvised (but always ready!) stage at Penthouse. Soirees that bring together musicians from all over the world living in Lisbon, magicians, stand-up comedy, among other artistic manifestations, are part of a surprising curation carried out by Ana Vulcão and the Independente team.
TIAGO NACARATO
The big highlight of December at The Stage is Always Set is Tiago Nacarato who takes the elevator to the 4th floor of the Mateus Hotel on December 12th.
This is the last concert of the year at Mateus Penthouse and Tiago Nacarato promises to do it big, with several guests not yet revealed. Tickets (which include all-you-can-eat drinks and finger food) cost €50 and can be purchased via shotgun. Not to be missed!
The Stage is Always Set – December 12, 2023
DJ Set Tupimambo – 6:30 pm
Tiago Nacarato – from 8:30 pm
A Portuguese native with Brazilian roots, music has always been very present in his life through his father, also a musician. At the age of 18, he enrolled at the Valentim de Carvalho music school where he took singing, guitar, music theory and combo lessons.
The reunion with his Brazilian roots happened a few years later when he joined Orquestra Bamba Social as a vocalist, a project that brought together Portuguese-Brazilian musicians living in Porto. Together, they have already released the songs “Sorria” and “Cadê Cascais”, the latter featuring Brazilian rapper Marcelo D2.
After appearing on The Voice Portugal in 2018, he began performing his solo work on stage.
His debut album, “Lugar Comum”, was released in 2019, the year in which he returned to Brazil and attended some of the biggest national festivals. He already has toured Europe, Brazil and nationally, thus establishing himself as one of the most relevant contemporary Portuguese artists.
