Pope Francis announced that the theme of World Youth Days, to be held in Lisbon in 2022, will have as its theme “Mary got up and left in a hurry,” Ecclesia reported.
Jorge Bergoglio told the Vatican that “The next international edition of World Youth Days will be in Lisbon in 2022. For this stage of the intercontinental pilgrimage of young people I chose as a theme ‘Mary got up and left in a hurry.'”
As a passage from the Gospel of St. Luke, according to the Ecclesia agency, the leader of the Catholic Church expressed the intention that this theme promotes harmony between the itinerary for the next WYD and the way of the Catholic Church after the Synod dedicated to the new generations, said during the speech.
The World Youth Days (WYD) are considered the biggest event organized by the Catholic Church.
