The Waterboys, a cult Scottish band led by charismatic singer and guitarist Mike Scott, returns to Portugal for a unique show on December 12th at the Super Bock Arena in Porto.
Recognised as one of the best live bands in the world, The Waterboys perform with a luxury line-up: two keyboardists — Brother Paul, from Memphis, and James Hallawell, from Cornwall — and a powerful rhythm section, composed of Irishmen Aongus Ralston (bass) and Eamon Ferris (drums). On stage, they reconfigure themes from all phases of their career: from the “big music” era of The Whole Of The Moon and the classic album This Is The Sea, to the more folk phase of Fisherman’s Blues, not forgetting their most recent albums, which explore soul, funk and country-rock with the creative freedom that has always defined them.
In 2025, The Waterboys will be on the road with their bold new album, Life, Death And Dennis Hopper — released by the legendary Sun Records —, inspired by the life of the iconic American actor. But the band’s greatest classics will not be missing: A Girl Called Johnny (1983), The Whole of the Moon (1985), Fisherman’s Blues (1988) or How Long Will I Love You (1990), among many others.
Spectators can expect a night full of classics, new sounds, improvisation and an unparalleled energy, as Mike Scott promises:
“The Waterboys live for the experience of playing live, of feeling our music evolve and grow with each performance. Nothing makes us happier than seeing a long list of tour dates. How will the music change? What will happen that has never happened before? How much fun and excitement can it be for us and the audience? Only those who come will know.”
