We have been looking for free cultural opportunities for these days 5, 6 and 7 April.

It is best to prepare your agenda and deal with this cultural ‘self-service’ and ‘serve’ the cultural discoveries that appeal to you.

Lisbon

The 25th of April party continues in Oeiras

It is almost two months of initiatives, in various places and free entry, that the municipality of Oeiras receives on the way to the celebrations of the 45th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution. There are exhibitions, lectures, debates, concerts, guided tours and endless activities. The complete program can be consulted here.

There are music and comedy in Sete Rios

Already in the Plaza de Sete Rios, next to the main entrance of the Zoo, the Fair of Flavors and Traditions is taking place. These three days count on the stand-up comedy by Francisco Menezes and music by Mónica Sintra, Ús Sai de Gatas. There are even food stalls, crafts, strollers and more to discover. Lisbon Pipers Live

The Fnac concerts continue to give us good surprises and opportunities. This Saturday, at 6:00 pm, the historic Gaiteiros de Lisboa perform live, bringing in the luggage the album ‘A História’.

Rossio is Ana Jotta’s

From Porto, more concretely from Serralves, ‘Joana’, a project by the Portuguese Ana Jotta. The set of pieces found a new house for the coming times. The works are hung on the roof of the first floor of the Rossio Station, waiting for your visit. Patent until June 20, 2019.

A retrospective exhibition by Hélio Cunha

The municipal gallery Artur Boal, in Amadora, receives until next April 7 a retrospective exhibition of the Portuguese plastic artist Hélio Cunha. The entrance is always free!

The Magic of Aardman Studios

The Monstra – Lisbon Animation Festival (which also deserves the visit!), In partnership with the Marionette Museum, presents the first exhibition in Lisbon of the British Aardman Studios, founded in 1976 by David Sproxton and Peter Lord and responsible for films like ‘The Sheep Choné’ or ‘The Flight of the Hens’. The meticulous and fun work of these studios counts on an exhibition whit free entrance. In all, there are 47 puppets, eight scenarios, several storyboards and several sketches. Vasco Vilhena live at Pensão Amor

Pensão Amor is one of the spaces that gave new life to Cais do Sodré in recent years. The music is also part of the space and this dominates, on April 7, there is Vasco Vilhena, with the company on stage, to listen from 7 pm.

Watercolours of Discovery

One of the most important works inspired by the expedition that resulted in the discovery of Brazil arrived for the first time in Portugal on March 9, exactly 519 years after the armada commanded by Pedro Álvares Cabral from Lisbon. The 52 works that make up the exhibition ‘Aquarelas do Descobrimento’, by Carybé, a plastic artist who, throughout his brilliant career, portrayed Brazil in a very own way. The exhibition is open until May 4 at the Independence Palace (Largo São Domingos, 11 – Lisbon). For more information click here.

The Douro on display

The exhibition ‘Douro [DWR] 3 solos between heaven and earth’ is evident in the Pasteleira Reservoir until April 20. It is an exhibition on the Douro region, in all its territory from the border with Spain to the sea. The entrance is free. More details here.

When a ship goes by

The photographs of Inês Marinho (honourable mention New Talents Fnac 2018) are on display at Fnac de Santa Catarina. It is “a diary that explores the relationship of the human being with his environment and the ability to adapt.” Learn more here.
