A text “absolutely fantastic” is how Fernando Gomes classifies the play “The worst comedy in the world” that will stage to mark the opening of the new season of the Teatro da Trindade in Lisbon on September 12.
It is a “mind-boggling” look at the theater and at the follies and daydreams of those who do it, which turns it into a spectacle of comedy and a drama of what is lived behind the scenes during its own preparation , as the schedule of the new season of Teatro da trindade.
The rehearsal, opening night and a show at the end of a troubled tour are three key moments in “The Worst Comedy in the World,” a spectacle marked by the growing tension between cast members, in which one fears a collapse collective.
The play is, according to the location’s programming, “a delicious backstage farce with exultant moments of comedy.”
“Noises off” was originally staged in 1982 in London and has since been performed in venues around the world from the West End in London to Broadway in New York.
Among the awards won by the show, which was nominated for Tony for best comedy on Broadway, are Evening Standard and Olivier in the UK.
