There are ‘Vinhos em Cena’ at the Tivoli Theater on Avenida da Liberdade
Teatro Tivoli BBVA opens stage and behind the scenes to lovers of wine and the arts.
On March 23rd and 24th, the Tivoli Theater BBVA hosts the 3rd edition of ‘Vinhos em Cena’, a unique event in Portugal that promotes the encounter between wine art, performing arts and more. Directed to the general public, it has as its background one of the most emblematic Lisbon theatres and an icon of the prestigious Avenida da Liberdade. Tickets on sale here.
From the backstage stage, in ‘Vinhos em Cena’, it is possible to meet and taste the wines of more than 40 national and international producers, to participate in exams commented by illustrious wine and gastronomic specialists and to attend unlikely conversations between personalities of the different arts. Still, Wines in Cena 2019 also has music, literature and fine arts, providing amazing programming that ‘breathes’ art and wine.
The 3rd edition of ‘Vinhos em Cena’ will bring two internationally renowned guests to Portugal. Charles Spence, professor of experimental psychology at the University of Oxford and a specialist in sensory analysis, and one of the most recognized names in contemporary art worldwide, Saimir Strati, the Albanian artist with nine Guinness World Records, author of one of the largest mosaics in the world with cork stoppers, a portrait of the Nobel Prize for Literature, José Saramago.
Designed by the architect Raúl Lino, the second concept of Frederico de Lima Mayer, and inaugurated in 1924, the Tivoli Theater quickly became a place of worship of the Lisbon society. Its neoclassical style, with its accentuated shapes and dome-shaped cover with black tile, lent it the personality of the French theatres at the time, attributing a certain “flavour” to the Parisian boulevard. Since then, the Tivoli Theater, currently owned by UAU and naming BBVA, has hosted some of the most relevant events and shows, having been classified as Public Interest Monument in February 2015.
