Thermometer Festival kicks off in Ponta Delgada

The Thermometer Festival, in which new bands and artists compete since 1994, begins the 24th edition on Saturday, with the first qualifying round taking place in Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, and then passing through eight other Portuguese cities.

This year, there will be nine qualifiers in other Portuguese cities, in which 27 artists will compete in total, according to information released by the organization.

The competition comes this year for the first time to the Portuguese archipelagos. In the first round, on Saturday at the Micaelense Coliseum, Bluish, The FAQs and Burghers compete.

The Thermometer will then go to Porto on November 16 for Casa da Música, with Couples, Pedro Camões and MEERA, for Cascais, on November 23, at Crearte by Cascais Jovem, with MaZéi, Andrage and Metamorfose, Viseu, to November 24, at the Aula Magna of the Polytechnic Institute, with Palmers, Cosmic Mass and Kings of the Beach, and to Lisbon, on November 29, for the Iberian Theater with Haka, CATE and Gator, the Alligator.

The remaining qualifiers are already taking place in December, 7, in Aveiro, Teatro Aveirense with Muscle, Man ao Mar and Germano, 8, in Funchal, Teatro Baltazar Dias, with Months Sober, Hercules and Beni Mizrahi, on 14, in Évora, at Teatro Garcia Resende, with Niki Moss, The Gondors and Veecious V, and at 21, in Faro, at Teatro das Figuras, with MARO, Jaguar Jaguar and RUSSA.

This year, bands from all over Europe have reopened, and two Portuguese bands are joining the 22 Portuguese artists, one from Belgium, one from Germany and one from Britain.

The winner of the 24th edition, to be announced on January 12 at Cinema São Jorge in Lisbon, “will receive a prize that will give you the chance to play at the NOS Alive, BONS SONS and Iberian Festival Awards Festivals, record a video clip and 20 hours of the recording studio. ”

In the 23rd edition, the winners were the fourth quarter. The band of Lisbon is composed by João Vidigueira in the voice, Luís Lucena in the schedules, electric guitar and bass, João Abelaira on keyboards and ‘synths’ and Diogo Sousa on drums and ‘sampler’.

Since 1994, more than 500 bands and artists have participated in the Thermometer Festival, including Ornatos Violeta, B Facade, Capicua, Dj Ride, Mazgani, Ana Bacalhau, David Fonseca, Noiserv, Richie Campbell, Salto and Tatanka.
