This year’s edition of Bragança Granfondo is canceled
The Municipality of Bragança, in partnership with the other entities involved in the organization, decided to postpone the holding of the Bragança Granfondo 2021, given the recent Covid-19 epidemiological evolution throughout the national territory, with the exponential increase in new cases, reaching the daily number highest since February 13, 2021.
According to official data, the Delta variant, originating in India, is already the most prevalent in Portugal and is present in 55.6 percent of new Covid-19 cases, an increase assumed to be rampant. Experts believe that this variant will dominate the entire national territory in the coming weeks.
On this date, Portugal is the second country in the European Union with the highest incidence rate of Covid-19, according to data released by the European Center for Disease Control.
In view of the seriousness of the situation, the Municipalities of Bragança and Vimioso, BikeService and the Health Authorities understand that the health safety conditions are not met for the realization of the Bragança Granfondo 2021, scheduled for July 11, even with the implementation of the strict plan of preventive measures already announced.
Thus, the event is postponed to July 10, 2022.
