Thousands parade in Lisbon to remember carnation revolution

Thousands of people participate this afternoon in Lisbon, in the traditional 25 April parade to mark the 45th anniversary of the “Carnation Revolution”.

The parade, organized by the 25 de Abril Association, left the Marquês de Pombal square around 3:30 p.m. toward Rossio and many people had red carnations, a symbol of the revolution that overthrew the dictatorship of more than 40 years.

From carnation to chest or hand, the parade is composed of several generations, joining from children to adults of all ages.

At the beginning of the parade are placed two chaimite, tanks of combat that were used by the military that arrived at Lisbon in the dawn of 25 of April of 1974.
