Tiago Bettencourt presents “Livro de Letras 2001-2023”
Coming out this Thursday, February 15th, Livro de Letras 2001-2023. It is a collection in pocketbook format of all the lyrics edited by Tiago Bettencourt, from the first singles with Toranja to the most recent Caminhar, taken from the album XX – Ao Vivo no Coliseu dos Recreios.
The book also includes partnerships and songs made for other artists. All of the singer-songwriter’s lyrics are thus shown chronologically, telling a story that began with Toranja’s first single, “Fome (Nesse Semper)”, released on the 2001 Optimus compilation.
“The idea was to create a light, beautiful object, easy to leaf through, to be lost somewhere around the house, or in the car, and to be visited from time to time, like the books of poems by artists and poets that I have at home and which I consult without any rules or commitments.
Witness my evolution, the evolution of my view of the world, my mutations and the mutations of the world around me during all these years.”

The enigma-like cover illustration is by Lourenço Providência, whose works have been published in The New York Times, The New Yorker and Monocle. He also signed, among many works, a series for the Danish studio Barkas and an illustrated map for the book Kinfolk Travel.
Tiago Bettencourt will be at Livraria Martins, in Lisbon, tomorrow to mark the moment and sign books for those present. The meeting is scheduled for 6 pm.
