“Quero Dormir” is the first single from Dormências, Tiago Cardoso’s debut solo album, to be released this year.
A song that reflects on alienation in society, addressing topics such as greed, inequality, violence in the name of religion and the way entertainment distracts us from reality.
With verses that expose these issues in an ironic way, Tiago does not place himself outside of criticism – after all, he is part of the same society he questions. The chorus brings a strong image: a young man asks his mother to turn off the light because he wants to continue sleeping. A metaphor for our own collective behavior – we ignore what surrounds us because it is easier not to see it.
But what if, for an instant, the light comes on? If this song opens a small crack in the darkness, it will already be a victory.
Who is Tiago Cardoso?
Tiago Cardoso began his career in the world of music at an early age, studying at the Santa Cecília Music Academy. Years later, and already away from music, he began to develop a taste for writing and, listening to what would become his favorite band, Pink Floyd, he realized that he could express what he felt through songs.
So, in a sudden change of direction and following his heart, he took a chance on this world! He began his adventure in the band Vila Martel, with two albums released, where he was the bassist, composer and lyricist. The album “Nunca Mais é Sábado” was widely played on several radio stations (Antena 3, Vodafone FM, Radar) with the singles “Não Nos Deixem Ir Embora” and “Ninguém”. Now, he is looking for his solo debut, with more conceptual songs that address issues such as Human Rights.
His musical evolution is tied to the genre he assumes, where he seeks a more progressive and psychedelic Rock, without being so attached to the “obvious”. It also takes on a more daring stance, risking megalomania and grandiosity, always trying to bring together several artists, from different areas, in the creation of very complete and diverse projects, focused on the music created, but which bring new interpretations, visions and creations!
