Edited last March, Vigil is Tipo’s second studio album, the solo project of Salvador Menezes, who releases today the short musical “A Day of ‘Vigil'”.
Recorded over one day, between 8:18 AM and 11:22 PM, “Um Dia de ‘Vigia’” follows Tipo at the location where the album was created, returning to the essence of the compositions that make up the record, just voice and guitar – just like the original demos.
Tipo is responsible for the concept, production, recording, and post-production of the short, which he recorded with smartphones borrowed from family and tips on sound capture from friends. The result is a pictorial journey along the Alentejo coast, the same visual universe that served as the backdrop and influence for the composition of “Vigia.”
“Vigia is a name for home. In March 2020, when the birth of my second daughter coincided with the first lockdown, it was where I exiled myself with my family. It was also where I returned, in the following three years, to continue what I had started. The entire foundation of the album was composed at the ‘Casa da Vigia’, so out of a whole set of decisions that a process of making an album demands, naming it was the easiest and most obvious task.”

Tipo will present “Vigia” live next October 18 at the Centro de Artes do Espectáculo de Sever do Vouga as part of the Alter Ego Music Sessions, at 9:30 PM.
