Torel Palace Lisbon welcomes Vinho da Casa in May
With a special price (until April 20) and an exclusive package for hotel accommodation
For three days, from May 16th to 18th, Torel Palace Lisbon opens its doors to one of the most anticipated wine events of the year, Vinho da Casa, which is now in its 3rd edition.
The program for this weekend dedicated to the best Portuguese wines and producers in an exceptional setting is now available, with highlights including dinatoire dinners and a show cooking session by award-winning chef Vítor Matos, exclusive masterclasses, pocket shows with producers, winemakers and guest artists, and the special appearance of Brazilian composer Adriana Calcanhotto, confirmed for Sunday, May 18.

Among the mansions and gardens of Torel Palace Lisbon, 20 of the most renowned Portuguese producers will offer tastings of 100 of their most emblematic wines in an intimate demonstration that will last approximately 2h30, so that all visitors can enjoy the presence and knowledge of the producers and winemakers themselves.
To complement the wine offering, chef Vítor Matos, who has just won two more Michelin stars with the restaurants Blind (Torel Palace Porto) and Oculto (The Lince Santa Clara), in addition to the three he already had (1* at 2Monkeys, the hotel’s exquisite restaurant, and 2* at the Antiqvvm restaurant), will be the gastronomic protagonist of the event, with dinatoire dinners paired, on the first night, with wines from Quinta da Vacaria, the main wine brand of the Torel group, and with a selection of wines from the 20 participating producers on the following nights.

On May 16th, this dinner will also be complemented by a unique experience, a show cooking moment that brings together the chef himself and producer Sandra Tavares, from Wine&Soul.
Also on the 17th and 18th of May, together with the dinatoire dinners by chef Vítor Matos, there will be new show cookings, this time with, respectively, João Álvares Ribeiro and João Roquette Álvares Ribeiro (Quinta do Vallado) and Maria Melo (MasterChef) and Rosa Maria Campos and Maria João Pato (Luís Pato). During the three days, these show cooking moments will be led by Miguel Pires, from Mesa Marcada.

Masterclasses for a limited number of 14 people are one of the highlights of the program. The Master of Wine or guest critic will taste an exclusive selection of wines from older vintages, ensuring an unforgettable experience with producers and experts. Master of Wine Dirceu Vianna Junior presents Old Wines from Old Vines (May 16), including a Quinta do Noval Nacional Vintage 2003 and a Redoma White 1996 from Niepoort; Jamie Goode, writer, speaker, wine judge and author, brings us The diversity of Portuguese wines in 7 bottles (May 17) with proposals that include a Curtimenta 2012 from Anselmo Mendes or a Três Amigos Meio Doce 50 years from Barbeito. Renowned journalist Manuel Carvalho challenges the most daring palates with Portugal: one identity, different styles (18 May), among which Quinta do Crasto Vinha da Ponte 2012 or Quinta do Vesúvio Vintage 1995 from Symington Family Estates stand out. Special mention goes to the Argentine sommelier Cecilia Aldaz, co-owner of the ORO restaurant (2* Michelin), in Rio de Janeiro.

Also taking place over the three days, after the masterclasses and wine tasting, the pocket shows are presented as a selection of encounters that combine wine and art, moments of relaxation that showcase the hidden talents of the participating producers. On May 16th, How to make a batch of Port wine with Luís Sottomayor (Casa Ferreirinha – limited to 20 people) and Harmonised Improvisation with Jamie Goode and Daniel Niepoort. On the 17th, how to close the batch of an Alentejo wine is brought by Pedro Baptista, from the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation (limited to 20 people). This evening culminates with a tango session (Mário Sérgio and Ana Madaíl – Quinta das Bágeiras) and a concert by Carlos Agrellos and guests (Quinta do Noval). On Sunday, May 18th, visitors will be treated to How to Make a Panama Hat, with Rui Mauraus and Francisca Van Zeller (Van Zellers & Co) and, finally, a very special guest: Adriana Calcanhotto, who promises to make the last night of the event unforgettable.
