The EcoEvento is an initiative of the company Valorsul, which challenges municipalities and their events to assume a commitment to sustainability and to reducing the environmental impact.
Those who choose to join have training and support for proper waste management, and are rewarded with a financial amount according to the amount of waste collected selectively in the given period.
In 2019, the Surfing World Championship was the first, followed by the Torres Vedras Carnival and the São Pedro Fair.
During the Torres Vedras Carnival, 9,121 tons were selectively collected, and 7,965 tons of waste were recorded at the São Pedro Fair.
The Municipality of Torres Vedras thus stands out with two “EcoEventos”, which were marked by the amount of recycled waste, which demonstrates once again its commitment to environmental responsibility.
