The promotional campaign “Turismo Centro Portugal – Visitar e Ficar é Ajuda”, launched following the fires that hit the centre of the country in 2017, won one of the main international awards for travel and tourism, was announced today.
The Tourism Center campaign won the Gold Award (equivalent to the first place) in the category “Best National Tourism Board / Destination Marketing Organization Campaign”, during the gala “International Travel & Tourism Awards”, which took place in London on Tuesday evening.
“This distinction shows that in the middle of the tragedy, hope is born, renewed hope in a destination, in its attractiveness, well reflected in this campaign,” summed up the president of Turismo Centro, Pedro Machado, who believes that the unprecedented achievement ” the tourism sector and the brand Centro de Portugal, which competed alongside candidates as strong as the United States. ”
The main objective of the campaign was to “reaffirm the Center of Portugal as a safe and trustworthy destination” and consisted in promoting the most affected regions, through outdoor advertising, radio and radio spots, among other initiatives.
