Tourism in a debate at the University of Aveiro

ReVisiting Tourism: Trip Through Digital and Circular Trends takes place on December 16th. From the University of Aveiro, this seminar will be broadcast online, worldwide and for free.

Through the University of Aveiro’s Youtube, you will be able to watch this webinar fully and fully in English, aimed at anticipating some of the most relevant trends in the tourism sector, such as digital transformation or the circular economy.

To discuss them, the Meetings from Douro project invited a group of national and international experts to meet in the Auditorium of the Department of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism (DEGEIT), on December 16th, from 9 am to 6 pm. 1:30 pm Registration to watch, in person or digitally, is free.

One morning with a complete program (which can be found here), there will be two main themes in focus. The first block is dedicated to the impact of digital transformation on the tourism industry.

Presented by Carlos Costa, director of DEGEIT, will be attended by Dimitrios Buhalis, professor at the University of Bournemouth, who has taught at over 50 universities worldwide and specializes in areas such as strategic management and marketing.

The panel is completed by Stanislav Ivanov, Vice-Rector for Research at Varna Management University, and Diogo Gomes, assistant professor at the University of Aveiro.

The second block will explore the theme of sustainability and circular economy, a global challenge that has tourism as one of the current focal points for reflection and action. It is essential to share views and best practices in this area.

Cinzia De Marzo, an attorney specializing in EU law and sustainable tourism, will be present, as will Stefan Lazic, co-founder of Echoes of The Journey, created to contribute to the development of more responsible tourism.

Also Rogelio Policarpio Flores, Jr., a researcher at the University of Aveiro, will be part of this panel, presented by Hugo Marques Sousa, a consultant at Magellan.
