From Antonio Villeroy, “Mais Uma Vez,” a song featuring Gelson Oliveira, included in the recent album “Banquete,” in addition to “Sinais de Fogo” and “Pra Rua Me Levar,” both partnerships with singer Ana Carolina, Villeroy’s greatest interpreter. From Gelson Oliveira, there are hits like “Literatura Brasileira” and “Tempo ao Tempo.”

After the performance in Lisbon, the duo continues touring in France, Holland, Austria, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic. In November, the artists return to Portugal, where they perform in Évora, on November 7, at Armazém 8; in Cascais, on November 8, at Cascais Jazz Club; and in Sesimbra on November 9, at the project Som do Coreto. The artists conclude their European schedule by recording an album in Montemor-o-Novo, at the studio Quinta Aumentada, with the same lineup as this concert.

“Nothing could make me happier at this moment than being on stage again with my great brother and partner, Antonio Villeroy, on this tour through Europe. There are many stories to tell!” celebrates Gelson Oliveira.

Antonio Villeroy points out that “a lot has changed since our first tour: we released new albums, collaborated with various artists – Gelson with Gilberto Gil and Paulo Moura, among others, and I became recorded by various names in Brazilian and international music. However, resuming this partnership, 30 years after our first European tour is a great joy.”

How it all started:

Gelson Oliveira and Antonio Villeroy met in 1979. Since then, they have shared the stage hundreds of times in various cities in Brazil. Starting in 1994, they expanded their field of activity to European territory, paving the way and markets for many Brazilian colleagues. The duo now resumes this partnership, 30 years after their first European tour.

In 1994, these two Brazilian singer-songwriters with international careers conceived the concert “Saídas e Bandeiras,” to carry out their first European tour. The title of the show is a reference to the expeditions that took place in Brazil in the 18th century, travelling from the coast to the interior of the country, aimed at the territorial exploration of Portuguese possessions. By replacing the term “entradas” with “saídas,” the artists assert their intentions to conquer new audiences in European lands, making the reverse movement of the colonizers of Terra Brasilis.

The artists enchanted the European audience with a repertoire that included original songs and classics by Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, Tom Jobim, and Chico Buarque.
