About Orquestra do Norte

The Orquestra do Norte (ON) has been carrying out, since 1992, a project to decentralize musical culture that has been developed by the Associação Norte Cultural, since it won the first national competition for the creation of regional orchestras, established by the Portuguese State that same year.

With the artistic direction of José Ferreira Lobo, ON was the initiator of truly pioneering and unprecedented work, having established itself in the classical music scene and today being a nationally and internationally recognized institution.
