Two Portuguese natural pools among the best in the world

The pools of Porto Moniz, in Madeira, and Azenhas do Mar, in Sintra, are the chosen ones.

Two Portuguese natural pools were highlighted by CNN and are now part of the media ranking for the “best natural pools in the world”. We talk about the pools of Porto Moniz, in Madeira, and Azenhas do Mar, in Sintra.

CNN highlighted the best natural pools in the world and advised tourists who decide to know each of the highlights to be cautious and choose to look for them at times when the tide is calmer, as they are places of nature susceptible to have high tides.

Porto Moniz’s pools, formed from volcanic lava cooling, “are one of Madeira’s biggest tourist attractions,” says CNN. To facilitate access to baths in this Madeiran paradise completes the means of communication, “steps have been created in the water” and routes around the perimeter.

In relation to Azenhas do Mar, CNN says “it is one of the most underrated beaches in Portugal”. Access is facilitated by steps, but if the sea is rough, advise the media not to enter the water “and go straight to the excellent seafood restaurant, which is next to the pool”.

Also on the CNN list are the Treyarnon Pools in England; from Giola, in Greece; from Queen Joan, Sorrento, Italy; from the Queen, Eleuthera, Bahamas; Saunders Rock, Cape Town, South Africa; from Kitsilano Pool, Vancouver, Canada; Bon Secours Beach, Saint-Malo, France; Bogey Hole, Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia; from Walpole Bay, Cliftonville, England; and from Copenhagen, Denmark.
