The Portuguese under-18 football team won the La Manga Tournament in Spain today, after winning 3-0 in Norway on the third and final round.
After the triumphs over Turkey and Romania, 4-1 and 2-1 respectively, Emílio Peixe’s pupils successfully faced a decisive challenge, in which they were always superior.
Henrique Araújo scored Portugal’s first two goals, at 27 and 49 minutes, the first in the conversion of a penalty committed on himself, and the second to take advantage of a bad relief to avoid two opponents and shoot cross, with the ball still hitting at the base of the post.
After the regular time, Gerson Sousa concluded a successful counterattack, expanding to the definitive 3-0.
This is the sixth success of Portugal in the last seven editions of the International Tournament of La Manga, and its hegemony was interrupted only in 2015 by the Czech Republic.
