UEFA postpones national team games scheduled for June

Following the meeting, via videoconference, between UEFA and the heads of the 55 associations that make it up, the body that oversees football at European level decided to postpone all the national team games that were scheduled for June this year.

The decision comes as a consequence of the spread of the pandemic of the new coronavirus, which left football in suspense, and concerns not only male soccer, but also female soccer and formation levels.

For June, it is worth noting that not only private meetings were scheduled, but also the qualifying play-offs of Euro’2020 – meanwhile postponed to 2021 – and for the European Women’s Football Championship, next year.

The Portuguese team, for example, had an appointment with Spain (June 5) and Malta (June 9), but these two friendly matches are now on hold.

UEFA also confirmed the postponement, also to a date yet to be defined, of the final phase of the futsal Champions League, initially scheduled for April this year.
