A fantastic Skunk Anansie show in Lisbon Skunk Anansie returned to Portugal for a fantastic night of rock in a packed room, an audience that, in Skin’s words, “Portugal is the best audience in the world”.
The British band Skunk Anansie are back on the road with a new album in the works after nine years without recording and are back to win over fans, not just those who have been following them for many years but also new generations.
Skunk Anansie’s new tour led by Skin, marked by the songs that made her famous, “Hedonism (Just Because You Feel Good)”, “Selling Jesus”, “Twisted (Everyday Hurts)” and “Weak” but also by the new songs, “Piggy” and “This Means War” that they presented to the Portuguese public both in Porto and Lisbon.
Formed in London in 1994, Skunk Anansie turned heads early on with their unique blend of alternative, rock and punk influences, coupled with a dub sensibility that reflected their multicultural background.
The bold lyrics addressing social and political issues, coupled with Skin’s high-fashion aesthetic and queer sexuality, made Skunk Anansie one of the most talked-about and important bands of their generation, quickly leading to global success.
With a string of critically acclaimed albums, including Paranoid & Sunburnt, Stoosh, Post Orgasmic Chill and 25LIVE@25, and hit singles, the band have sold millions of records worldwide and headlined the Glastonbury Festival in 1999. After a hiatus in the early 2000s, Skunk Anansie reformed in 2009 and has been releasing new music and touring worldwide ever since.
