“Uma Lua” is Leonor Baldaque’s first foray into music sung in Portuguese. It comes with an ethereal theme, while the words anchor it in a poetic yet palpable reality.
For the first time, Leonor Baldaque also chose to produce a song, collaborating with Cláudio do Lago Tavares (among others, drummer for Glockenwise) in the creative process of creating a sound background for “Uma Lua”, which takes the song even further.
With “Uma Lua”, Leonor Baldaque continues to explore her decidedly Alt-Pop/Dream Pop sound. “Uma Lua” came out of nowhere, or from all of this, on a hot afternoon in Portugal, when I was about to leave again.
It is the songs that decide for me, when they come to get me, in which language they will speak. “Uma Lua” is like a tether to Portugal that says: I know you here too.
It talks about this August moon, this moon that insinuates itself towards me on long summer nights, this moon that is like a mirror and a witness. Portuguese summers have been, for the past few years, a universe that seems to me to be almost infinite in possibilities.
On May 24, Leonor will perform at “Junta-te ao Jazz”, at the Baldaya Palace in Lisbon, where she will have the pleasure of singing songs from her first album, as well as some songs in Portuguese, for only the second time.
Leonor Baldaque is an artist born in Portugal, who began her career at a very young age, in the cinema, as an actress for Manoel de Oliveira. She is also the author of novels written in French and published by prestigious French publishers. At the same time, she is developing her career as a singer-songwriter in Portugal, with songs and poems so far in English, of her authorship.
His first album, A Few Dates of Love, was presented in February 2024 at Casa da Música. His first novel translated into Portuguese was published in 2024 by Quetzal, Piero Solidão.
