If the concert were to be defined in just one word, it would be Joy, Nancy’s joy that shone through, in every smile, in every song, in every applause, the joy of the audience who cheered with every note from beginning to end, who ended up dancing, the joy of each guest for participating in this launch party for Nancy’s new album, Gente, songs para todos d’gente.
Nancy Vieira presented her new album Gente yesterday at Teatro Municipal São Luiz, one of the most beautiful theatres in Lisbon and Portugal, it hosted one of the best concerts, a party that lasted from start to finish, where some of the most beautiful music played, who took us on a journey through Cape Verde, Guinea, passing through Portugal, Brazil, Peru and Argentina, without ever leaving Lisbon.
Considered by many as one of the main heirs of Cesária Évora, Nancy Vieira, owner of a wonderful voice, has helped to make the music of the wonderful islands known, increasing Cape Verde’s musical heritage with each album.
In this new work, Nancy explores new paths, challenging the usual forms of production, which are very focused on the ideas of a single producer. Gente features production by Amélia Muge, José Martins and Nancy Vieira, a mix that gave Gente a more beautiful and deeper musicality.
Nancy received on stage several renowned names, but also young talents who gave her new album an even greater status, Acácia Maior, Amélia Muge, Fogo Fogo, Mário Lúcio, Martín Sued at the Bandoneón, Paulo Flores, Remna, just missing Fred Martins and António Zambujo. Still, their performance on stage with Nancy Vieira was promised very soon.
On stage, Nancy Vieira had a range of excellent musicians, Osvaldo Marcos Dias (Vaiss) on acoustic Guitar, Cavaquinho, Olmo Marín on acoustic Guitar, electric Guitar and Cavaquinho, Jorge Cervantes on Bass and Charango and Iúri Oliveira on Percussion, in a production from UGURU, Ao Sul do Mundo and São Luiz Teatro Municipal.
