A fantastic evening with António Zambujo and Yamandu Costa

Centro Cultural de Belém

If the street was very cold, it didn’t take long for António Zambujo and Yamandu Costa to warm up the Great Auditorium, at the Centro Cultural de Belém, there was so much applause, song after song.

This concert arises from an invitation to a concert celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Independence of Brazil, where the intention was to celebrate the harmony between two peoples in a symbiosis of Lusophone rhythms, now it will also be an album that António and Yamandu, announced that they had finished recording yesterday before the concert at CCB.

António Zambujo is one of the greatest contemporary artists, authors, and performers of Portuguese music and language, he is also one of its most notable ambassadors in the world. There are several concerts he has performed on both sides of the Atlantic, and he is also very popular in Brazil.

He has incorporated influences from the Brazilian songbook, in particular Bossa Nova, breaking down borders, real and imaginary, bringing Brazil and Portugal closer together. His music became bolder and from Cante Alentejano to Fado, António Zambujo gave a new personality to his, our, music.

Yamandu Costa is one of the most acclaimed musicians, delights audiences wherever he goes, owner of skill and fantastic sound, manages to play his seven-string guitar, cry, laugh, talk, sing, and marvel at those listening to him. Whether solo, accompanied by other musicians, or with orchestras, he always leaves his mark, with the music of the south of the American continent, which his fingers masterfully strum, whatever the musical genre.

Yesterday at the CCB, it was no different, Yamandu Costa was the first to enter the stage, and with ‘Carinho – Serelepe’ followed by ‘Samba para o Rafa’, he showed all his mastery of the guitar.

It was for ‘Sarara’ that António Zambujo joined Yamandu on stage, and following a lineup of very beautiful songs, they enchanted the audience that filled the CCB, and that never skipped applause for the two musicians.

This was a concert full of unforgettable songs, ‘Rapaz da Camisa Verde’, ‘Nervos de Aço’, and ‘Samba para o Rafa’ among many others, to which António Zambujo and Yamandu Costa gave a very special touch.

It was even necessary to return to the stage twice, as no one left the hall, in a concert that had very well-crafted lighting, which helped to give even more color to this concert.
