The Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC) will host, from tomorrow to September 9th, the XXXIII National Meeting of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ENAA 2023).
This initiative, organized by the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (IA) in collaboration with FCTUC and the Portuguese Astronomy Society (SPA), will take place at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Pole II of the University of Coimbra.
This meeting takes place annually and aims, in addition to bringing together the national Astronomy and Astrophysics scientific community, to disseminate the latest scientific results obtained by researchers in Portuguese institutions in these scientific areas.
Furthermore, the initiative serves to discuss and help define the future strategy of the scientific community, with the aim of strengthening interactions between the various entities, structures, and networks dedicated to the production, dissemination, and transmission of knowledge of the national science and technology system. , its scientists, and Portuguese participation in the international organizations of which it is part, such as the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Southern Observatory (ESO), and the One Square Kilometer Network of Radio Telescopes (SKA).
In the 2023 edition, to the usual two days dedicated to scientific research in Astronomy and Astrophysics, a third dedicated to “Teaching, Communication and Citizen Science in Astronomy” will be added, in which a short-term training course certified and will take place on Center of Training of the Teachers’ Union of the Region. This last day, which will take place at the Geophysical and Astronomical Observatory of the University of Coimbra (OGA), will be open to teachers and educators in primary and secondary education upon registration.
