E³UDRES² University is officially launched in online conference

The Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS) and its five European partners promote, between the next 22 and 23 March, the official launch of the European University E³UDRES², through an online conference that will be attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Portuguese Higher Education, Manuel Heitor.

The opening session, starting at 12 noon (Portuguese time), will also be speakers Tine Delva, responsible for the Higher Education Unit of the European Commission, Gabriele Permoser and Hannes Raffaseder, representatives of St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, Austria, the coordinating entity of the E³UDRES² alliance.

The inaugural event, spread over two days, will address the theme “Towards the universities of the future for smart and sustainable regions” through a set of activities that will make known to the population and organizations of these six territories now allied, which is proposed with this three-year project that is part of a new paradigm for European higher education.

In addition to lectures by renowned experts, informal sharing sessions with experts and official representatives of E³UDRES² are also planned, and the presentation of innovative projects resulting from a recently launched contest of ideas, three of them from the Setúbal Peninsula region.

Late afternoons are reserved for “Inspiring Conversations” with the senior representatives of the E³UDRES² alliance, promoted by the European Association of Higher Education Institutions (EURASHE), one of them with the participation of IPS president, Pedro Dominguinhos (22, 16h30). The moderation of the work on the second day, 23, will be in charge of the coordinator of E³UDRES² at IPS, Susana Piçarra.

E³UDRES², the acronym for European Entrepreneurial and Involved European University as an engine for Smart and Sustainable European Regions, is a project financed by the European Commission, with a global investment of around five million euros, being one of 41 European universities created by a community initiative.

Coordinated by St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences (Austria), the consortium is part of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (Hungary), UC Leuven-Limburg (Belgium), Politehnica University Timișoara (Romania), and Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences (Latvia), in addition to IPS (Portugal).

Its major mission is to make higher education institutions a true lever for the development of the regions in which they operate, in response to the great societal, environmental and economic challenges of the 21st century, within the framework of a new Common European Space for Education, Research and Innovation , which is to be built by everyone.
