Artist and researcher Frederico Dinis teaches sound art workshop

The Universidade Portucalense (UPT) will promote, on March 15th, the understanding and experimentation of sound language, through a Sound Art workshop, open to the public, within the scope of the Cultura@Portucalense project.

With this initiative, participants will acquire practical skills in the area of ​​Sound Art, allowing a greater understanding of sound language in the fields of matter, plasticity, and spatiality, through the exploration of contents such as sound morphology, sound aesthetics, basic notions of acoustics, field recordings, soundscapes and also the understanding of sound work as an artistic practice and its framing in the contemporary context.

The workshop follows a theoretical-practical model, in which the development of a small Sound Art project is intended, and will be taught by Frederico Dinis, professor of the Degree in Multimedia and Arts at UPT and artist-researcher at the interface between contemporary artistic practices. of performativity and new media technologies.

Cultura@Portucalense is a cultural project that consists of promoting debates, exhibitions, workshops and concerts that will take place throughout the year in the different spaces of the university, based on two thematic clusters, strategic and current thinking guides, Sustainability and Transition. Digital.

The UPT, as a cultural center of great importance in the democratization of culture, intends with these initiatives to bring the academic community closer to the arts, culture, and heritage.
