Updated Google Maps to make traveling safer during the festive season
With the Christmas season approaching, and under the threat of restrictive measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Google is introducing new features in Google Maps to help people get around.
In the coming weeks, two new updates will be launched, including one that shows the cases of COVID-19 detected in an area, along with resources and quick links with information from local authorities.
So, if you plan to leave the city, you can quickly update yourself about the rules and restrictions of any location, as well as test locations, with associated information.
So that you can avoid crowds, especially in places alluding to Christmas, for example, Google Maps aims to help maintain social distance through real-time occupation information, an expansion of a feature that had previously been introduced.
Through the app for iOS and Android, users will start to see the crowding of public transport, such as buses, trains and metro, in real time. This information is collected by feedback from the users themselves.
Google has other news, but for now not applied in Portugal. The first concerns meal orders and restaurant reservations.
