Valença Plants 100 Thousand Trees
Valença City Hall is afforesting an area of 120 hectares, with 100 thousand trees, in 12 clusters, within the Condomínios de Aldeia project, in an investment of more than 200 thousand euros.
These 100,000 native hardwood trees promise to regenerate the municipality’s forest landscape in parishes such as Sanfins, Gondomil, Taião, Gandra, Cerdal and Boivão.
All of these trees are being planted with protection and fertilization included. These species are considered more suitable for our region and resistant to forest fires.
The planting of these trees follows extensive deforestation work, cleaning and eradication of eucalyptus and other exotic trees and the opening and maintenance of forest paths. As part of this project, a picnic park is also being built in Gondomil.
In total, all planned interventions involve an investment of around 575 thousand euros financed by the Environmental Fund, 100%, through the Recovery and Resilience Program, in the “Village Condominium” measure.
