Valete invites Papillon, Phoenix Rdc, and DJ Ride to participate in his concerts celebrating 20 years of his career in Lisbon and Porto on the 3rd and 4th of February. The first part will feature a performance by MC Xeg and two battles – SmokingBars in Lisbon, with Edi Ventura and Flajo facing each other, and Liga Knockout in Porto, between ZA and Wilson G.
Valete celebrates two decades of an illustrious career in the national rap and hip-hop scene. Active in the hip-hop movement in Portugal since 1997, he released his first and iconic album, Educação Visual, in 2002, followed by Serviço Público in 2006, with the hits Rouleta Russa and Anti-Herói.
In 2020, he released five new original tracks, including the hit Rua do Poço dos Negros. The previous year she had released Colete Amarelo, a single that had a great impact on Portuguese music in 2019.
Papillon emerged from the Knock Out League and GROGNation as one of the best rappers of his generation. In 2018 he released his debut album, produced by Slow J, from which the hit Impec came out. Phoenix Rdc is a Portuguese rapper, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur, awarded in 2019 with the Hiphopsou award for “Best Music” with the theme Vencedor. DJ Ride is a producer and sound designer. He was the world scratch champion in 2011 and 2016 and most recently teamed up with Stereossauro to form the duo Beatbombers.
MC Xeg is a Portuguese MC with five albums released and many appearances on albums and mixtapes by renowned artists such as Sam The Kid, Bomberjack, DJ Cruzfader, among others. Liga Knock Out was the first league of written and acapella battles between MCs created in Portugal and has already been the launching pad for impactful artists of national hip hop. This year they took the battles to one of the stages at Rock in Rio Lisboa and also did live battles at the Coliseu de Lisboa. SmokingBars is the new Battle Rap initiative in Portugal and started in Instagram lives. Nowadays, it already does face-to-face battles and events, but it continues to have a strong digital presence, which sets it apart.
Valete’s concerts at the Lisbon and Porto Coliseums will be an opportunity to revisit the oldest and most recent hits from these two decades of the rapper’s history.
