Van Dijk honored by UEFA as best player of the year
The Dutch international received the award at Forum Grimaldi in Monaco
On a day when the Champions League group stage draw took place, UEFA also named center-back Van Dijk as the best player of the year.
The Dutch international won the award in contention with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Having scored 12 Champions League appearances in the 2018/2019 season, Van Dijk has scored two goals and more assists with Liverpool. Individual numbers to which he joined the title of European champion.
The Dutch midfielder attended the Forum Grimaldi in Monaco, where he sat next to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
