‘Variações’ and Fado Bicha among ILGA Association Award Winners

The movie ‘Variações’, inspired by the life of the singer Cantautor António Variações, and the musical project Fado Bicha are two of those distinguished in 2019 with the Arco-Íris Awards, from the ILGA Portugal association, which today announced the award winners.

The trophies, created by the artist André Tecedeiro, will be presented to the winners at a ceremony to be held on January 11 in Lisbon, symbolically marking the 10 years of parliamentary approval of same-sex marriage.

The list of winners also includes journalists Aline Flor and Joana Martins (RTP), Almada City Hall and the parishes of Campolide and Misericórdia in Lisbon, humorist Diogo Faro, the Estoril Praia Sports Group and the singer Alex D’Alva Teixeira, from the band D’Alva.

The Rainbow Awards are awarded annually by ILGA Portugal – Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Intervention and aim to distinguish persons or entities that stand out for their work in the “fight against discrimination based on sexual orientation, expression and identity. of gender and sexual characteristics “in Portugal.

In addition, television host José Carlos Malato will receive an ‘ex-aequo’ Award and the Humanization Sector of the Child Support Institute an Amplos Award.
