Vasco Ribeiro was crowned, this Sunday, national surfing champion, during the fourth and penultimate stage of the MEO League, taking place in Praia Grande. The 26-year-old Estoril surfer now holds the record for national titles, with five ‘scepters’, one more than Ruben González.
After overcoming the semi-finals of Allianz Sintra Pro, and seeing Afonso Antunes eliminated in the same phase, Vasco Ribeiro secured the national title in advance, succeeding Frederico Morais.
Vasco Ribeiro was crowned champion for the first time in 2011, when he was just 16 years old. Titles followed in 2012, 2014 and 2017.
