Festival A Porta confirms that iolanda, the big winner of the 2024 Song Festival, will perform in Leiria on June 15th.
This is the first confirmation of A Porta’s 2024 schedule.
“Including projects from the Leiria area in the program is part of Festival A Porta’s identity and, therefore, it makes perfect sense to have iolanda with us. It became clear that he would take to one of the stages at A Porta after the concert, last year, at Clap Your Hands, which also takes place in Leiria. The performative energy and proximity to the Leiriense public is something that we want to replicate on our stages”, says Mariana Lois, from the management of A Porta.
iolanda is 29 years old, born in São Pedro de Cova Gala, in Figueira da Foz, and grew up in Pombal, in the district of Leiria, having moved to Lisbon at the age of 17. She also spent time in London, where she studied Composition at BIMM, University of Sussex.
From an early age she studied music, having attended the Conservatory, and, in addition to singing, she plays the guitar, saxophone, piano and cavaquinho. But it is her talent as a singer that has earned her the designation of “new diva of Portuguese music” by the specialized press.
His music is described as a mix of Pop, R&B, traditional Portuguese and Spanish influences.
He has been composing since he was 14, having already written for national artists such as Bárbara Tinoco and Bárbara Bandeira. In 2022, she debuted at Festival da Canção as co-author and co-composer of the song “Mar no Fim”, which was performed by Blacci.
In 2023, she debuted the EP Cura, composed during the pandemic, which was considered one of the albums of the year by Expresso/Blitz. Since then, the doors of national radio stations have opened and he has taken to the big stages of festivals such as NOS Alive, Paredes de Coura and Festival F, and performed more than 15 dates from North to South of Portugal.
In 2024, in addition to the A Porta Festival, she is confirmed on the poster for the international festival SONAR, in Lisbon, and will have her debut at the Capitol under her name.
