Contest categories include accommodation, architecture, art and culture, innovative services or experiences, or restaurants. Distinguished in the Douro/Porto and Vinhos Verdes regions have already been announced, the international winner will be announced this week.
The evaluation phase of the applications for the Best Of Wine Tourism 2022 awards is concluded, with the winners being named in the Douro/Porto and Vinhos Verdes regions. Based on criteria such as the quality of services and facilities, the differentiation, innovation and originality of the offer, and the impact on the development of wine tourism and the region where they operate, the organization distinguished the winners in the following categories:
- Accommodation: Quinta da Gricha
- Architecture and Landscape: Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta
- Art and Culture: Caves Ferreira
- Innovative Experiences in Wine Tourism: Quinta da Aveleda
- Wine Restaurants: Vale do Tábua Wine & Tapas
- Wine Tourism Services: Quinta das Carvalhas
The international winner will be determined by a jury made up of representatives from member cities of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network – Great Wine Capitals International Network, and announced at the closing ceremony of the Great Wine Capitals annual general meeting, which will take place next year Thursday, October 28, Mainz, Germany.
In addition, the public will also have the opportunity to vote on their favorite wine tourism project, in a poll that will take place from October 29th to November 12th, with the results being known on November 15th.
The member cities/regions of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network are: Adelaide (Australia); Bilbao-Rioja (Spain); Bordeaux (France); Cape Town and Cape Winelands (South Africa); Lausanne (Switzerland); Mainz-Rheinhessen (Germany); Mendoza (Argentina); Porto, Portugal); San Francisco-Napa Valley (USA); Valparaíso-Casablanca Valley (Chile); and Verona (Italy). In Porto, it is up to the Municipality to officially represent the city and its regions.
