Vera Duarte, Cape Verdean writer, elected correspondent researcher at NOVA University Humanities Center

The Cape Verdean writer, Vera Duarte was elected Correspondent Researcher at the Humanities Center, Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, NOVA University of Lisbon.

With this election, which was approved on the 10th by the scientific committee, the writer becomes part of the research group Culture and Literature.

The purpose Humanities Center is the development, promotion and study of the history of Portugal and the presence of the Portuguese around the world.

Vera Duarte, a jurist and writer from Cape Verde, studied law at the University of Lisbon, was a counsellor of the Supreme Court of Justice and a Counselor of the President of the Republic. Born in Mindelo, she is a politician, human rights activist and poet, with 3 works published “Amanhã amadrugada“, “A candidata“, “MAIS” and was awarded the “Tchicaya U Tam’si Prize for African Poetry“.
