Martim Nunes – Current leader of the Projunior male national ranking
“It’s always good to be in first place after winning a championship. We always feel extra motivated and confident, but this is just one more stage and it won’t be different for having won the first one or being leader of the ranking. I’m going to do what I’ve been doing which is always trying to do my best and compete and surf well. I have never been to Viana do Castelo and, therefore, it will be a new place for me. I hope to have as much fun as possible and that there are good waves.”
Gabriela Dinis – Current leader of the Projunior female national ranking
“I am very pleased to have won the first stage and to be the leader of the ranking. I will do my best and I want to win again. I have good memories of the waves in Viana do Castelo. It was there that I became U16 national champion at Praia da Arda in 2019. I remember that we caught good waves in that championship and I hope that this year will be repeated.”
Ricardo Rego – City Councilor of Viana do Castelo
“It is with great enthusiasm that Viana do Castelo welcomes the 2nd stage of the Projunior National Circuit, which will bring to our waves the best Under-20 athletes, male and female, from Portugal. One of the strategies of the municipality has been to invest in nautical sports, and this competition contributes to the municipality’s affirmation in this area, specifically in surfing. The excellent natural conditions added to the organizational capacity of Surf Clube de Viana, the fact that Viana do Castelo is the European City of Sport and the fact that it presides over the World Network of Surf Cities can make this stage a milestone in the national competitive program. Aloha!”
