Vidigueira promotes Biennial of Arts with 330 works on display
A total of 220 Portuguese and foreign artists exhibit 330 works of painting and sculpture in the 11th edition of the Biennial Art Exhibition of Vidigueira (Beja), which opens today.
The inauguration of the biennial exhibition, with 285 paintings and 45 sculptures, is scheduled for 15:30 today, in the noble hall of the municipality.
The works, according to the city council, which promotes the initiative, with the support of the parish council, remain public until November 11, in various spaces of the Alentejo village.
The municipal museum and market, the salons of the parish council and the Multifaceted Center of New Technologies and the Casão A. S. Matos Rosa are the “stages” where the public can appreciate the works.
Of the 220 artists participating in this 11th edition, as explained to the Lusa news agency, “about 10 are foreigners” from Spain, Brazil and Argentina, while the rest are Portuguese.
The Bienal Salão das Artes, which will award several prizes, namely sculpture and painting, aims to “promote artistic activity”, according to the promoters.
