Virgem Suta will release “Amor ao Avesso” on September 13, the second anticipatory single from the fourth original work of the band led by Jorge Benvinda and Nuno Figueiredo.
“This song portrays the beginning of a relationship, the sharing of dreams, the desire to be with the person you love and to chart common paths. After all, Rome is love read backwards and, one way or another, all roads lead to Rome,” the band shares.
In the year celebrating their fifteenth anniversary, Virgem Suta is aiming for an October 25 release for their new album titled No céu da Boca do Lobo, produced by JP Coimbra and featuring a collaboration with musician Jorge Costa.
“This album marks our return to releasing music after 8 years of hiatus and a pandemic in between. (…) The fact is that we were involved in parallel projects and only in 2023 did we decide to get to work, gather songs, and return to the studio. The album was recorded in Beja, Évora, Lisbon, and Porto and includes 9 tracks filled with irony about everyday life, traversing landscapes and routines of the deep Alentejo, and love stories in a time when time is scarce and relationships are becoming increasingly remote. Deep down, No céu da boca do lobo refers to the idea of a prison that this apparent freedom we live in becomes. The bait traps…,” the band explains.
Meanwhile, the band continues to perform live, recently leaving their festive mark at the Barrelas Summer Fest in Vila Nova de Paiva and at Festival F in Faro, with genuine displays of enthusiasm from the audience present. Tomorrow, Virgem Suta will perform at the Festa da Praia in Odeceixe.
“Our favourite habitat is the stage. There we feel at home, and the connection with the audience is so magical that it makes us addicted and drives us to celebrate. It’s impossible to resist. We even believe that this impulse for the stage may have some weight in the delay of our releases. Now with a new album, we are preparing a show already featuring new songs that we want to present at the shows in Lisbon and Porto,” the band says about the upcoming concerts.
In November, the band promises concerts to present the new album in Lisbon at Teatro Maria Matos and in Porto at Casa da Música.
In 2024, the band will celebrate their fifteenth anniversary with a new album and a new tour.
