The virtual edition of the Porto Marathon had 1,397 participants, of 22 nationalities, between November 2 and Sunday, raising more than seven thousand euros for the Food Emergency Network, the organization announced today.
The 2020 edition of the most participated national marathon was canceled, due to the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus, with RunPorto promoting virtual races from the emblematic distance of 42.195 kilometers and the most popular race, with six kilometers, allowing participation in any location.
The best times recorded in this virtual race, by sending a proof, belonged to Pedro Ventura (ARD Macieira), with 02: 52.24 hours, and Etelvina Rocha, with time 03: 35.00, among the 1,112 marathon runners. The mini-marathon had 285 participants.
The 7,150 euros raised with the registration fees will be converted into baskets to offer to needy families, through the Food Emergency Network.
In 2019, the Porto race counted with more than six thousand registered, without, however, having broken the record of finalists reached in 2016, with the 4,752 marathoners crossing the goal.
